Magic Note is built to keep your data on your device. We collect as little as possible and are transparent about what we do use.

Your notes stay on your Mac

Everything you write — cards, folders, blocks — is stored in a local SQLite database on your Mac. None of it is sent to our servers.

AI requests go directly to Anthropic

When you use an AI feature, your note content is sent from your device directly to Anthropic using your own API key. Magic Note does not proxy, log, or see these requests. Anthropic's privacy policy applies to that data.

Magic Note Pro — what we collect

If you start a free trial or activate a Pro license, we store:

• Your email address — to send your magic sign-in link and manage your license
• Hardware fingerprint hashes — one-way SHA-256 hashes of your Mac's platform UUID, serial number, and primary network adapter address. These are used only to enforce the 3-machine activation limit. The original values cannot be recovered from the stored hashes.

We do not store your name, payment details, or any note content. Payment is handled by PayPal — their privacy policy applies to billing data.

All stored data can be deleted on request by emailing info@magic-note.ai.

Magic Note Lite

The App Store version collects no data whatsoever. No account, no server calls, no telemetry. Your Anthropic API key is stored only in your Mac's local preferences.

This website

magic-note.ai uses Umami, a self-hosted, open-source analytics tool. It records page views and download events with no cookies, no cross-site tracking, and no personal data. All analytics data is stored on our own server and is not shared with any third party.

Standard server access logs (IP address, path, timestamp) are kept for up to 30 days for security purposes and then deleted. A single session cookie is set when you sign in to the dashboard — no other cookies are used.
